SeneGence Background Information
SeneGence International is a privately owned American company that sells skin care and makeup products. It was founded in 1999 by Joni Rogers-Kante. Their headquarters is located in Foothill Ranch, California.
They are a multi-level marketing company, meaning their distributors are not only focused on selling the products, but also recruiting others to sell their products as well. Their goal is to give an opportunity for women to work from home by selling products that they use and love.
SeneGence Product Line
LipSense is the first product of SeneGence and what they are most known for, but over the years, they have added many additional product offerings.
Here is a list of the different categories SeneGence has available, with several products in each category.
- Skin Care
- SeneDerm Solutions
- Abundance Parfums
It seems that most customers are fairly happy with the products, with most products receiving 4 stars or better out of 5 stars.
Requirements To Become A SeneGence Distributor
To begin with, you will need a sponsor. This is someone who will earn a commission from the work that you do. No worries if you don’t already have one, they will set you up with one when you go to enroll if you don’t.
Set up your account.
There is a $55 investment fee to join. This will cover a New Distributor Kit and your application fee. (I have never had to pay an application fee when applying for a job before.)
When you place your first product order, you will become an Active Distributor and when you place at least a $150 product order, you will become a Qualified Distributor.
There are several different distributor packs that you can choose from to get started.
- Fast Start Pack – costs $1195
- Significant SeneSeller Pack – costs $795
- Qualified Distributor Pack – costs $345
- Glamour Demo Pack – costs $295 and includes samples and testers
- Lips Pack – costs $75. It is designed for one-on-one presentations and includes tester products and sample sizes.
There is also a Distributor Training Package that is available, but isn’t required to purchase. The cost is $550 and includes the following:

You might need this in order to become successful, but it would be hard to afford after everything else that you have had to spend money on.
What Can You Earn Being A SeneGence Distributor
Like all MLM Companies, understanding the commission structure and bonus opportunities gets a bit confusing. What is clear with a MLM Company, is the best opportunity to earn money, is by recruiting others to join you in selling the products as well.
If you don’t think that you can get others to join the program, I don’t think that you should even consider this career.
There are 3 ways that you can earn money as a SeneGence Distributor. Here are the 3 ways, and I will give you additional information on each below this.
- Earn profits on the retail sales of SeneGence cosmetics and skin care.
- Earn commissions based on distributors you sponsor.
- Earn monthly bonuses based on group sales volume.
1. Earn From Profits
Distributors will purchase products at a discounted wholesale price directly from SeneGence (that discount will vary depending on how much you purchase). You will then sell the products to the end consumers at the suggested retail price.
The difference between the cost of product at wholesale and suggested retail price is the Distributor’s profit.
The more you purchase the larger your discount will be. See the chart below for available discounts.
A PV means point value. It equals 1/2 of 1 suggested retail U.S. dollars or $.50 equals 1 PV.
2. Commission Income
The commission income will include both number 2 and number 3 from above or commission based on your distributors and bonus from group sales volume.
Your commission is based on distributors you sponsor. They use an Unilevel Compensation Structure. That means the Distributor is at the top of the team and every personally recruited member is placed under them on the first level. Any recruit acquired by their recruit, enters at level 2 and so forth. They will pay up to 5 levels.
When you sponsor a downline distributor, you will start earning a commission from the orders they place, as long as you have also placed a qualifying order in the same calendar month of at least $50. These are the requirements for payment earnings for level 1 through level 3.
If you meet all the requirements, level 1 will pay 10% commission, level 2 will pay 20% commission and level 3 will pay 30% commission. There is no information provided as to 10% of what, meaning is it overall sales total, profit or what.
The more you sponsor, the more you can earn.
For you to qualify for earnings on the 4th level, the Distributor would need to purchase at least $100 in the same calendar month, have at least 5 of the 1st line distributors place $50 orders each, and everyone on levels 1 through 3 must have at least $5000 accumulation in sales.
If that happens, the payout would be: 1st line 10%, 2nd line 20%, 3rd line 30% and 4th line 5%.
I have level 5 payout information, but it more of the same, with dollar amounts increasing. If you need this information, send me a note and I will get you the information.
Group Sales Volume
This is similar and confusing like the previous section. You can earn a bonus on levels 1 through 5, and the requirements increase with each of the levels. I will give you just a few examples for you to get the general idea.
For level 1 group sales volume, you would need to purchase over $50 and each of your 1st line distributors must purchase over $50. You would receive 10% of the total purchases above the $50. That means if they purchased $51, you would receive 10% of the $1.00 or $.10.
For level 2, you would need to purchase $150 and line 1 distributors would need to purchase $150 each. You would receive 6% of the amount above the $150.
Levels 3 through 5 continue in the same fashion.
My Rating Of SeneGence Distributor And Why
My overall rating of becoming a SeneGence Distributor is 20 out of 100. I am giving them some points for the number of years that SeneGence has been in business and the satisfaction of the products they are offering.
I do feel that as an opportunity to earn money from home, that SeneGence is going to cost you more than you will ever make. It will end up being a spiraling effect of you spending more money each month even if you don’t have the sales, just to get your commission check.
According to Wikipedia, SeneGence has been accused of misleading its MLM distributors about what their potential income levels from sales can be. There has also been complaints about requiring front-loading for distributors with products that are potentially non-refundable to prepare for customer orders or to combat product shortages.
There are also complaints that the main focus is on recruitment of distributors, which is closer to a pyramid scheme.
There is no Income Disclosure Statement available. Since they are a privately owned business, they aren’t required to provide one, but if people were really making money being a distributor for SeneGence, they would be providing an Income Disclosure Statement to show the possibilities.
Selling SeneGence would have you competing with Amazon, and I don’t think I want to compete against Amazon. I looked at Amazon, and they have all the products available to purchase directly from there. If you like SeneGence, it would be a better decision to create a website and sell the products through Amazon.
You wouldn’t have to purchase any inventory, and you wouldn’t have to just sell SeneGence products. See the information below to learn how you can sell products through your own website.
How I Make An Online Income
If you now have doubts to become an SeneGence Distributor, you aren’t alone. I am not a big fan of any MLM company, because to the large costs involved to get started, the need to recruit others, and the confusion with their compensation plans.
That is why affiliate marketing is my recommended business model for making money online.
- You don’t need to recruit others to join.
- The freedom to promote any products you like.
- It is free to get started.
In fact, you can even get free training to learn how to become an affiliate marketer.
