Getting Started
If you are new to Affiliate Marketing and doing some research on how all this works, it is best to have a website that is up and running before you start applying for Affiliate Programs. Most programs will require that you have an established website before they will approve your application with their program.
Some Affiliate Programs will also require that you have a certain amount of sales within a certain time period to keep you in their program, so you will want to have your website at a point where it at least has some traffic.
If you are just starting out, and have questions about starting a website or how to use Affiliate Marketing successfully, you might want to check out my review of Wealthy Affiliate. It is a program that you can join for free with training on how to get a website up and running. It is a program all beginners can benefit from, but also established bloggers would find helpful information within the community.

Thanks for your in-depth coverage on Shareasale! I’m an affiliate there, but I had no idea they required a deposit to pay affiliates up front! I hadn’t really explored it much, though I’m going to be looking through it after your review. I had almost forgotten I had signed up. I just wanted to work with a specific merchant, but it looks like it might be worth signing up for more. Thanks again!
Since you are already signed up with Shareasale, I recommend going back in and taking a look around to see what is new. They are constantly updating their merchants and adding new ones all the time. You might find some really great merchants for the niche that your website is about.
I am a beginner in the affiliate marketing platform. So I am still learning. Thank you for your recommendation of ShareASale in your article. I never heard of this site. Sounds like its a good online money making site. Thank you for recommending this website. As I started working as an affiliate marketer so I might give it a try.
Good luck to you on your new site. As you become more established as a marketing affiliate, I recommend you take a look at what Shareasale has to offer. It is a great affiliate program for newer websites as well as established websites.
Share a sale looks very promising and you are correct affiliate marketing is a great way to make money from home. I like platforms that are simple to us and understand. Going to one location to track sales, clicks, and payment information should make it easy to use the platform and help ensure success.
It is surprising how much time can be wasted with checking your sales from several different affiliate programs. That is time that you could spend on developing your website more. It is also helpful using one location, since many affiliate programs have a minimum earning requirement before they will pay you. By combining several affiliate programs in 1 location, it is easier for newer marketing affiliates to hit their minimum earning requirements.
I love the variety and flexibility that something like ShareASale offers. It looks like the amount of information they provide on their merchants is very robust to help you make quick and informed decisions! The fact they provide the Cookie Length is impressive as other sites I have worked with do not readily provide that information.
Do you find that ShareASale merchants are above average in their commissions and other benefits?
Any of the merchants that I have been working with from Shareasale are offering higher commissions than others, and the cookie length is longer than many other affiliate programs that you might find out there.
I am happy I came across your website today. I have just started to participate in affiliate marketing.
I have heard talk about companies (brokers) like ShareASale and now that you have done such a fine job of explaining it to me, I will look into using it. Makes perfect sense to work with a company that has 3900 merchants to choose from and then get paid each month for advertising with these merchants. I know, I have to make the sale first!
There must be hundreds if not more like myself who are just learning and your guidance is appreciated. Thank you.
I wish you much success in developing a successful affiliate marketing program. There are several other companies available that offer services like Shareasale, and I have tried others, but I have found that Shareasale was the best fit for me, and they are great with newer affiliates in helping them to succeed.
Hi there!
This is great information and, tho I am already a member of ShareASale, worth reading as a reminder of all that is available in the program!
As an e-designer, I have been focusing more on selling my services, and have signed up with just a couple of the vendors through ShareASale but, clearly, need to get in there again and really develop more relationships with vendors!!
So glad I found your post and really appreciate all you shared – very inspiring!
Many thanks!
Thanks for reading Joyce, and I am glad if you sparked some new ideas for you to help earn additional income with shareasale. They offer so many different ways to help you earn an income.
Hi! I have been searching for affiliate programs and ShareASale has been mentioned on some of the forums I have been reading. So, I decided to search it up in Google. I’m glad I found your site because you have really encouraged me to join the platform. My site is up and running and I hope I can get approved by a few merchants inside ShareASale. Thank you very much!
Shareasale is a great affiliate program to work with. When you are looking for merchants to work with through Shareasale, make sure to look over the information that Shareasale provides you about each merchant. It will help you understand how long they have been working with Shareasale along with what your commission percent will be. Some of the merchants might take longer to get approval from, but be patient and it will probably happen.
Shareasale is an amazing platform providing grounds for affiliate marketer to choose Merchant they will like to work with. Not only that, their training offer is very interesting. Thanks for this review and I have a short question to ask. When the marketer finally get customer that is interested in a particular product, is the customer going to pay directly to shareasale or the Merchant?
Shareasale has so many products and services available for a marketing affiliate, that there is something for almost any niche that you might be working on and like you mention, they have great training available to help you succeed. If you succeed, they also succeed.
A customer that purchases something through a link that you provide will pay directly to the merchant for that product or service. You will in turn get paid through Shareasale.
3900 merchants? That’s a lot.
I’ve been searching for a while now to find a good affiliate network. My blog is just taking off and I’m looking into ways to monetise it. Affiliate marketing seems a good idea since I make money and I help others.
ShareaSale seems a legit site and it pays really fast. 20th of the next month, that’s nice. 🙂
Shareasale is a very legit site and the number of affiliates they have available should help almost any niche find someone that they can become an affiliate for.
