Once you have created a website, one of the key factors to your success is the amount of traffic that your website receives. If you don’t have traffic, it is going to be hard for you to monopolize your website. Especially when you are starting out with a new website, you don’t want to have to spend money to get that traffic. But how do you get traffic to your website?
I am going to show you ways how to get free traffic to a website that will work for whatever type of website you have designed. The more traffic that your website has, the more money you will be able to make, so traffic is the key to your website success.
How To Get Traffic To My Website
Organic traffic is the best traffic your website can receive. It means that someone typed in a search term, and what came up from their search was something that would lead them to your website. This is traffic that you haven’t paid for, but is rather traffic that came from your rankings in Google, Yahoo or Bing.
Google especially is always updating what they use to determine how websites are ranked and changing up the rules on what factors they use for ranking their websites. What they ultimately want to do, is provide the readers with information that they are looking for.
By giving your readers what they are looking for, they are more likely to remain on your website longer, read additional posts that you have linked to your article that are relevant, follow you for further information and share your articles with others.
All of these factors will help you rank higher in Google. Google is always tracking how long a reader stays on your website and if they click the other links that you provide your readers with. Creating content that provides your reader with the information that they are looking for will be rewarded by Google.
Google wants to match searches with quality content.
Creating quality content is the best way to gain free traffic to your website. The more content you create, the more opportunities you have to have your website rank higher. Being consistent with creating new articles will also help to get your website to rank higher.
Keywords For Gaining Traffic
The keywords that you use will determine how your website is ranked. Using keywords that have low competition is the best way for your website to achieve higher rankings. Use a keyword research tool to help you find the best keywords to use for your niche.
You want to look for words that have lower competition but are still getting monthly searches. Finding a great keyword that no one is searching for isn’t going to produce any results for you. As you gain more authority, you can start targeting more competitive keywords, but wait until you are gaining more traffic.
The good news is that everything in you article has the potential to rank for keywords. You don’t just rank for the keywords that you submit as your keywords. Creating an article that is lengthy will give you more opportunities for more keywords.
If you currently don’t have a keyword research tool or if you aren’t satisfied with the research tool that you are using, take a look at Jaaxy Research Tool. Click on the link below and you can start searching for 30 free keywords to test it out. Give it a try.
Mobile Friendly Website
Among many of the changes that Google has implemented is ranking a website based off how mobile friendly the website is. Since more and more internet users are using their phones for searches, they are ranking them on how mobile friendly your website is first.
If your website has a slow load time or if your images don’t fit properly on the screen, Google will penalize your website by ranking it lower. You can use Google’s PageSpeed Insights to test your website speed or to find other issues.
Here is some of the information you will receive when you test your website on PageSpeed Insights. It also gives information about how I could speed up my website.
Use Social Media For Free Website Traffic
Social media is just that, very social. Sharing your website articles on the different social media platforms is going to help gain lots of traffic to your website. If you write great content that is informative and valuable, your readers are going to appreciate that and in return they will share on social media.
If you aren’t already setup with several social media accounts, I would start opening some up to share your website articles on. It would be impossible for you to try to share on all forms of social media, so I recommend choosing 3 or 4 that you feel comfortable using and start sharing.
When I started my first website about dogs, I signed up for Pinterest and starting sharing my articles there. For the first several months, the only traffic that my website had was from social media. By me sharing on social media, I was able to get some early sales and it helped my website to start ranking higher, since I was getting some traffic and the readers were staying and purchasing items.
There is no need to purchase ads on social media. That price tag can go pretty high rather quickly, and you might not gain any sales from it. I did run some ads on FaceBook, but that was only because they gave me some free ads. Although I did have many more people seeing my posts, I never did receive any sales from the FaceBook ads. I did gain 3 followers though and I guess that is something.
If you want to know how to get free traffic to a website, creating lots of quality content is the top priority. The more content that you have created, the more opportunity you will have for ranking keywords. At first, it might seem like it is impossible to see your rankings increase, but once you hit 100 articles, you will be amazed how much easier it will be to see articles that seemed to be lost out in space to start suddenly shooting up in the rankings.
Make sure you are using low hanging keywords. What that means, is to use keywords that don’t have as much competition as other words. It will be easier to rank with keywords that have less competition. Don’t make the mistake of using a keyword phrase because it has so much traffic. If no one can ever find your article because the competition is so great, you won’t be able to cash in on any sales.
