Becoming an affiliate marketer is becoming more popular, and why not, it is a great way to earn passive income 24/7/365.
You might want to become an affiliate marketer part-time to help support your income, while you are a student, or a stay-at-home mom.
This might be a full-time gig for you, where you plan on setting the internet on fire.
Whatever your reason is, you can choose any topic you have a passion about, and someone is probably already making money with it through affiliate marketing.
Building an affiliate marketing website is much easier than you may think, with very few costs to get started.
It is actually so easy, that you could have your first website started today.
I am going to walk you through the steps you should follow and what you need to build your affiliate marketing website, along with costs you should expect.
You are going to need the following to build your affiliate marketing website.
- Domain Name
- Hosting Account
- Website Building Platform
- Website Theme
- Business email address
To learn more about affiliate marketing, you can use this link I am providing.
Your niche is what your website is focusing on. It is better to start with a more narrow niche and build it out as your website grows.
If your niche was tennis shoes, I would recommend narrowing this down to something like basketball tennis shoes, or jogging tennis shoes.
Your niche can always grow to other items that you would need for playing basketball.
Choose a niche subject that you are have some expertise on, you have a passion for or something you are willing to learn to be an expert on.
Once you have your niche figured out, it will be easier to find a domain name that is closely related to your niche.
Your domain name would be the address used to find your website – like yourwebsite.com. This is what identifies your site.
You should choose a domain name that is catchy, brandable and memorable if possible. It should also be short and easy to spell, but relevant to your business.
There are free domain names available, but they aren’t as professional as the purchased domain names, and you might not have as much success with a free domain name.
I recommend choosing a domain that ends with com, net or org. These will have better success.
Purchasing a domain name will cost you between $13 to $16 per year.
The next step to building your website would to purchase website hosting. Website hosting isn’t an option, but rather a necessity to have a live website.
Website hosting is where all of your website information is stored and what makes it available for the internet to find your website.
The pricing for hosting will vary, depending on who you use and what special features you want.
I would recommend looking at BlueHost. The reason this is my suggestion, is they can cover many of your needs all in one place.
They will provide you with a free domain for the first year, they will host your website, they will provide you with a website building platform and provide a business e-mail address.
They are covering most of the items on your list that you need all in one place.
It is very easy to get set up with BlueHost, by just clicking on their green get started button once you are on their website.
Use the link below, to receive a savings on your first month. Their cost would be $3.95 for the first month and $7.99 per month after with the starter package.
The starter package should be able to provide you with everything that you need when you are starting out, and you can always upgrade at a later date.
Website Building Platform
This will be the location that you use to create your content for your website.
I would recommend using WordPress. It is the most popular and is easy to use for beginners and experts.
WordPress does come with spelling and language check, capabilities to add links and media or images.
You will be able to publish directly to your website from your WordPress.
WordPress will provide you with many free themes that you can use to create your website. (There is another thing crossed off your checklist.)
They do have themes that you can purchase, but there is plenty of variety to choose from that are free.
I recommend starting with a free theme, and you can always purchase a theme and easily change it at a later date. I think that when you are starting out, I would take advantage of all the free options that are available.
You will be able to customize your theme to the colors you prefer and be able to add widgets to the side or bottom for how you want to design your website.
Business Email Address
A business e-mail address will make your site more professional. It will also give you an opportunity to reply directly to your readers with something other than your personal e-mail address. Example: email@example.com or mine is firstname.lastname@example.org
By having an e-mail address for my website, it keeps my business e-mails separate from my business e-mails and looks more professional.
You will receive a free business e-mail address with your BlueHost membership.
The Cost Of Starting An Affiliate Marketing Website
If you choose to build your affiliate marketing website with the steps I have provided, your new website will cost between $105 to $108 per year. I do not consider that a large investment to get a new business running.
I do have another option available to you as well, and with this option, it will cost you nothing to start your website. Continue reading for another option.
